Heavenly Tips of Happiness

CAMBIOS. Half of our 8 companionships of hermanas have been transfered, two of which will be training. I love green sisters, they are THE Best. After what I would consider one of the most difficultly rewarding transfers here in Teran, I am blessed to be here for another six weeks. Yesterday and practically this whole weekend everyone told me their thoughts/feelings on me having transfers. It seemed probable 3 transfers here in Teran, and yet I had been praying to ask the Lord to help me know whether I would be staying or leaving, above all to accept His will and feel calm about His decision, and yet everytime I asked I felt a calm re-assurance that I still have more I have to give to this area.

I have grown to simply love Teran. I know that the answers to my prayers are subtle, but true. I know that the time here in Chiapas goes TOO quickly. I have seen how these past 4 1/2 months, and 10 months in Mexico have flown by. I love being able to serve the Lord as his capacitadora, and this past week Hna. Hickman and I tried with all our heart to not even lead our sisters, but to serve them, without them even knowing.

We left our area on pause for two days this week, on Tuesday we spent the entire day in Villaflores doing divisions with the hermanas. They are the farthest area in our zone, two hours of windy, twisty roads, but an incredibly beautiful drive. On Friday the zone leaders and us went to Suchiapa to work there the entire day without telling the Hermanas. The only plan we had was to teach 10 lessons with members (with a young women named Karla joined us the entire day). As the day began all we could do was TALK TO EVERYONE, and so, we did. We taught a lot but found five incredibly golden people; a family of 4 who live two blocks away from the casa de oracion, and a young man named Edward who has the light of Christ. The following day in our tri-zone conference we handed a ton of references over to the hermanas. It reminded me of a quote that was mentioned in conference that said: "the service that counts most is usually recognized by God alone."

This past transfer has been the biggest building block for this transfer. We are going to reap all that the Lord has helped us sow. Yesterday as we walked through the streets here in el campanario we saw a young man, and asked him if he had ever met missionaries before, he mentioned he had, and had attended church 4 times in tapachula. Tender miracles like these have been consistant, and have allowed me to see The Lord IS in the details of our lifes. I have grown to have a much stronger connection with Him. I can feel His love, and trust in me. I love His with all my heart.

Yesterday we were teaching a less active about the importance of keeping the sabbath, as we were outside I began to look around, and looked up at the sky and thought: "El mora en las alturas de los cielos", and had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude and peace. I know we have a Father in Heaven, and that our Savior, Jesus Christ lives because I feel their love in everything I do. I know that when we pray with sincerity, and real intent we can know the truth of all things (Moroni 10:5), it is a promise from the Lord.

Expect miracles. Believe in them. Work hard, show the Lord you are worthy of his Heavenly Blessings. The gospel is a foundation of knowledge that never runs dry. "Many things are good, many are important, but only a few are essential." -Elder D. Todd Christofferson

I love you all with all my heart.

Pasos de Fe

This week was intense - from: Consejo de liderazgo on Tuesday, to Zone Conference on Wednesday, intercambios on Thursday, and rushing around all of Teran getting our investigators to watch general conference.

The time has never gone by more quickly in my life. Each day that passes the more and more grateful I become for the blessings and confidence of the Lord. I feel his trust in me ever so strongly.

It has been a bit of a rough patch here in Teran ever since we decided to Only teach those people who are ready, we pick and drop people like crazy. I will admit that I had gotten to the point this week where I felt like: I believe in Miracles. I have seen them. Where are the people?!?!?!? I can vividly remember Friday as if it were yesterday. We spent LITERALLY the entire day walking around and only taught one street lesson (everyone in mexico is on vacation for 2 weeks), which made it incredibly difficult to find ANYONE in their homes, the streets were dead, and we did all we knew we could do, contact, anyone, and everyone.

When it was 7:45pm and after looking for the last person in my mind I felt the impression to go sit down on the bench in the park, and say a prayer. I looked at my companion and told her: "Hermana Hickman, lets make a plan with the Lord and present it to him." And so, we did. We thought of 3 points in our area to which we would walk to, and in each, we would do everything in our power to find "a chosen one", and asked the Lord to provide someone in the moment, and we would work to do the rest. The Lord is merciful. We walked to our first point (the corner of a common street), we saw a man with his daughter, and offered to teach him about Christ, his name is Mario. he has no religious background and was willing to let us teach his family. We walked to the 2nd point (in front of a members home), nothing. We walked to our 3rd point, this is where magic happens. There was a young women standing outside of her doorway and we both felt the need to contact her, and so we did. Her name is Fernanda, she has the light of Christ within her, within two minutes her whole family came outside to meet us, and her mom Maite (seriously mom you two look alike and remind me of each other - it kind of scares me haha). It was an amazing miracle to me. We are now teaching a golden family who didn't even know they were looking for the gospel. They watched general conference and loved it. I can't wait to help them progress in the gospel.

Miracle #1034I923478, her name is Georgina. She was a reference, we showed up to her house and she basically taught us the restoration, and quoted her favorite scripture in DyC 121:7-8. Seriously, I have never met anyone else so ready to be a mormon. She went to both sessions on Sunday, and came back telling us, I know this church is true. The desafio here, she studies every sunday. I don't know how to help her yet, but I have confidence in the Lord, that he will help us, help her understand how important it is to sacrifice and come to church.

My confidence, gratitude and love for the Savior has aumented 100% General Conference as a missionary FLIES. My favorite quotes were by Elder Gerald Cause: "The gospel is a fountain of knowledge that never ruins dry!" "The root of all evil is not money but the love of money." -Elder Oaks "Many things are good, many are important, but only a few are essential." -Elder Christofferson and SOOOO many more.... The talks that pierced my soul were by Elder Brent H. Nielson, i cried. As well as Elder Uchtdorf's understanding the grace of God. And Elder Andersen's words when he shared what it will be like at the second coming of Christ.

I know that Faith in the Lord, and in His commandments empower, refine, and spiritually nourish us, more than we will ever be able to comprehend. I am truly grateful to know and share with all my soul that there IS the Lord's truth upon the earth, and it is found in His church - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My dearest family this weekend I missed and love you all SO MUCH. All of conference I thought of how grateful I am to know we get to be together forever. This simply profound thought gives me the desire to work more and more diligent. I want to continue to convert myself into the most diligent and obedient missionary. Mom you always told me that on the mission I would come to feel sanctified. I am grateful for your words, as I can say today, I have felt these feelings as I walk the streets of Chiapas, as I look into the face of someone who needs to feel the warm embrace and love of their Savior. I am grateful for the understanding of this gospel, and for the opportunity I have to progress spiritually and share these known truths with this part of the world.

Sean diligentes, sean obedientes y fieles al Señor. :)

Les amo con todo mi corazon!
Hermana Coronado

ps. One day I have you tell you all details about this Zone Conference we just had, the spirit was so present. We started with our call letter, every missionary received a call letter, and were asked to write their acceptance letter but this time not to the prophet, but to God. At the end of the conf we gave each of them their letter from their Heavenly Father, it is profound. Of course it was written by the zone leaders, but it was written inspired, and I loved watching everyone as it touched their hearts.

Beware of Blinking

This week flew by so fast.

I definitely feel like the talk "Approaching the Throne of God" by Elder Klebingat "When trials come, the adversary's minions begind broadcasting that you did something wrong, that this is a punishment, a sign that Heavenly Father does not love you. Ignore that! Instead, tru to force a smile, gaze heavenward, and say: I Understand Lord. I know what this is. A time to prove myself, isn't it? Then partner with Him to endure well to the end."

Remember our golden investigator Hector, well, his baptism fell through on saturday. He called us on thursday afternoon while we were traveling to Juarez to have inter-cambios. And as I saw Hna. Hickman look down at the phone, and saw his name, I knew he had been influenced by his parents and wouldnt be getting baptized. It is kind of interesting how the Lord prepares people for you to teach, you do, and once you know you have done everything things turn out differently, every time. As we got of the Coita bus and walked to the Hna.s houses all I thought was, "Now we have to work harder." I could see how sad my companion was because we aren't baptizing, but I also realized that I need to be strong, and motivate her, and myself to continue to work and call miracles from the heavens. If I get sad, it's all over, and this time here on the mission is way too short.

The Lord prepares people DAILY. On Wednesday in our lideres de distrito meeting with the Zone Leaders they focused on finding, and more importantly "only teaching the Escogidos". We have been applying that this week, looking for one new person every-day to teach, and set a baptismal date with. It had definitely changed my perspective on finding the chosen ones rather than teaching, and teaching, and then having nothing happen. So now, if they are willing to come to church on Sunday and want the gospel, we teach them, if they dont, we dont. That simple.

I gained a testimony this week on why we teach the Restoration first, inspite of any of their necesities, the restoration will help them. This week people have had very closed hearts, but my mindset is as above, This is just the Lord trying to let me prove myself, my love, devotion, and patience, and so, I will.

I love you all! I pray for y'all often. This Sunday I was able to gain a stronger testimony of living prophets as I gave a talk in our ward. At times it feels like no-one is noticing our efforts, but indeed they are. A brother named Hno. Lopez and his mom came up to Hna. Hickman and I after sacrament meeting and thanked us for giving our discursos, because now he knows he needs to support his daughter on going on a mission. I thought that was pretty cool. I know this is the Lord's work, that He is aware of everything we do. He is pleased when we seek His help, and seek to help Him in all that we do. Serve Him, Love Him, and heed His council next week as you all watch general conference.

If you desire to know the will of the Lord for the next 6 months in your life, watch general conference, seek your own revelation!

Have a wonderful week. Call down Heavens blessings and then bask in those blessings.

LES AMO MUCHÍSIMO,
Hermana Coronado

Perfectamente In-Perfecto

This week, oh man, what a week. I always remember hearing everyone say on the mission the days will feel like weeks but the weeks will go by like a few days - how true of a statement.

I can't believe week 4 is starting today. I still feel like there is so much I need to be doing here in my area, for the 16 sisters in our zone, and for my own companionship (Hickmans the best), and even for myself. This week I truly realized how much the atonement can help me be a refined, energized, and truly happy person. I have thought a bit about what this week in the mission was like with two intercambios, trying to teach as many lessons as possible, trying to maintain everyone else's area successful as well as our own, and baptizing. The most rough point of the week was on Sunday, when no investigators came to church (i had never experienced this feeling during my mission). I sat there, and just pondered, what else could I have done? As I sat in sacrament meeting and began looking around at everyone I saw three people that stood out to me, Ramiro, Jose, and Anna Karen, three of my converts here in Teran. I then realized and reflected on the quote by Elder Holland on salvation and remembered if I did all that I could do, and the Lord knows I did, then my efforts were enough. No amount of effort goes in vain.

The Lord truly is merciful. He cares about and loves the people here so much. He cares about and loves me. This was going to be Hectors 5th Sunday attendance and his baptism was programmed for this Saturday, but if he didnt come to church it would have had to have been pushed back a week which would be hard with General conference being next week. On special circumstances like these we are able to ask the mission president for special permission, and we were granted it. Hector will be baptized on Saturday by Jose, one recent convert to another.

I learned in this situation that sometimes we mistakenly believe that happiness is the absence of a load. But bearing a load is a necessary and essential part of the plan of happiness. Because our individual load needs to generate spiritual traction, allowing us to grow. "The good works that really matter require the help of heaven, And the help of heaven requires working past the point of fatigue so far that only the meek and lowly will keep going long enough." I don't think anyone but Hna. Hickman and I can express this weeks efforts, but I do know that there were and will continue to be times during the week and for the rest of my earthly life when I won't know if I can put another foot in front of another, or handling another trial, or rejection, but I have come to learn that when we push past these points of fatigue, or heartache, that is when miracles happen, and when "His arm is revealed" (DyC 123:17).

"I am convinced that missionary work is not easy because salvation is not a cheap experience.  Salvation never was easy.  We are The Church of Jesus Christ, this is the truth, and He is our Great Eternal Head.  How could we believe it would be easy for us when it was never, ever easy for Him?  It seems to me that missionaries and mission leaders have to spend at least a few moments in Gethsemane. Missionaries and mission leaders have to take at least a step or two toward the summit of Calvary. Now, please don’t misunderstand.  I’m not talking about anything anywhere near what Christ experienced.  That would be presumptuous and sacrilegious.  But I believe that missionaries and investigators, to come to the truth, to come to salvation, to know something of this price that has been paid, will have to pay a token of that same price. For that reason I don’t believe missionary work has ever been easy, nor that conversion is, nor that retention is, nor that continued faithfulness is. I believe it is supposed to require some effort, something from the depths of our soul." - Elder Holland

During my mission and for the rest of my life I have to be willing to show the Lord he can trust me, by traveling the road few have traveled, for few are willing to just keep going. It will be tough, but This is the Lord's work so it is worth every ounce of lost sleep or effort!

Let us gladly carry those loads that are given to us, for through them we come to know ourselves and better yet; we come to know HIM, and become like HIM. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)

It will all be worth it.

Love you all A LOT,
Hermanita Coronado

This weeks service project: paiting a pink wall white

Sea un Nefi, o un Lehi.

Talk about the longest spiritually, emotionally, and physically draining week. This week was full of SOOO many ups and downs. The week went from Monday having a talk/ heart to heart talk with Hectors anti-mormon mom, to fasting for Hector on Tuesday with Karla (his best friend), to having our Zone Conference on Wednesday (with the assitants). The best activite we did was have everyone write down on a small peice of paper their largest disobedience and then we had them one by one walk outside and we had a little fire going and they all threw their piece of paper in the fire (representing their new covenant with the Lord that they are now even more willing to obey him.) Intercambios with Suchiapa (the hardest hnas in our zone), to intercambios with Central on Friday, receiving a random message Friday afternoon asking us to go to the Chapultepec stake center (not telling us why), showing up there at 6pm (mid intercambio), and being told we were going to take 2 mini-missionaries home with us (they were 15 and 17 yrs old), to the best temple lessons with Hector Saturday morning and having our Stake Conference Saturday and Sunday.

This week truly was incredible. Some of the best experiences began on Monday, talking with Hectors mom. She saw us teaching her son, and once the lesson had ended invited us into her home only to scold us on how they were a catholic family, and we were the mormons. I prayed in my heart the entire lesson, to have her heart softened... it didnt work. But I was able to ask hector a question, I looked at him and said: "Hector, what do you want to be?", he replied (with tears in his eyes), "Mom, I want to be a Mormon." I bore my testimony, Hna. Hickman bore her testimony, and Jose (a recent convert) bore his testimony. As we left Hectors home I was crying, he was crying, and we told him now He would have to choose. the Lord or his parents. The next day as we began to fast for him I truly had NO idea how to help him, but our Heavenly Father IS a Father of miracles. Wedneday evening we received a text message from Hector saying, in the end it all worked out. He told us later in the week when we met with him that he talked to his parents, and told them he wanted to get baptized. He did his part, and so did the Lord. How grateful I am for his example.

On Saturday morning we taught a lesson to Hector inside the temple and asked him to share his feelings with us. He simply said, "I feel so much peace, and each day I know more and more that this is all true." On Sunday he showed us his family tree and his uncle has roughly 8 generations worth of names on his grandfathers side. I can't even explain how cool it was, We told him you have so much work to do in the temple (starting in a few weeks). He is such a good 18yr old Kid, he simply smiles, and says yes.

How thankful I am to be able to find Hectors in my mission. Everytime I meet a golden person all I think is: He is so special, a chosen one, un escogido.

Apart from Hector we have begun to find more families to teach, such as Jorge and his family (golden street contacts). Isabel, the old lady who can get baptized any week, she just has to be aware of how important of a covenant this is, and Raul, he too is golden, and is changing his old habits to be baptized the 28th of March,

Family, I LOVE THIS WORK (OBRA), SO MUCH.

At our Stake Conference Elder Torris came to speak with us and shared so many great insights with us, such as "In order for someone to remain in the church they need daily contact with the church, but NOTdaily contact with the missionaries." He placed a huge emphasis on how important our actions are, and our ability to daily contact the Lord. He invited us to Share our Testmonies with the Lord! We don't need special equipment to communicate with the Lord, we simply have to fold our knees and go to our sacred grove.

This is my invitation to y'all today - Go To Your Sacred Grove and Share Your Testimony With He Who Has Given Us Everything.

I love my Father in Heaven, I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I know they are two personages who are real, and I feel their love daily.

I seriously believe that the Lord gives me even better and better companions each transfer. Hermana Hickman has 14mths on the mission but is still on fire and wants to work hard. I am super excited to get a few transfers to work with her (or so I hope).

The new and awesome updates from teran are that we found a GOLDEN investigator. His name is Hector and he is seriously another Jose. He prays every lesson to get to his baptismal date the 28th of March, loves coming to church. I know he too will be a future missionary. In Gospel principles when our mission leader asked him if he had a baptismal date he replied he did without any hesitation. Whooo. He is great. I believe in member referrals. On Sunday Jose came out to visit with us. We taught him how to contact, he has no fear, he just does it. I keep thinking, wait until he is a real missionary (in the U.S.) He is one of the strongest JAS we have and he's only been a member for a month.

Anna Karen is one of those people I know and feel in my soul I promised to find. When Hna. Hickman asked her what things she likes to do, she replied, "Go out visiting people with the sister missionaries." And when she was asked if she wants to be a missionary she enthusiastically replied, "Yes!"

Isabel is an older lady, like 70ish years old who has been coming to church every Sunday without fail for a few months, and just moved houses and into our ward in Teran, yet feels uneasy about accepting a baptismal date. Please pray for her to understand the importance of baptism. I have hope, and faith that if we serve her more, her heart will soften and we will be able to help her follow Christ, the way He wants her too. She had been catholic for 40yrs, and just now became a "dry member". We taught her how to pray, and she tries really really hard to do it without talking to Christ and the Holy Ghost, but I can't even imagine what it must be like to change everything you believe in, everything you are. I think being a convert is amazing, and truly admirable. Expect good news from her, soon. :)

Raul is learning, and truly trying to overcome his addictions. I know this gospel can change his natural man, and so does he. He is working towards his baptism, this week. The hard thing with him, is finding the right time to teach him. His dad has cancer and there are Always people swarming his house. Raul's brother Arturo is a convert of a little over a year.

We invited a random street contact to church on Wednesday, and than ran into him again on Saturday, and re-invited him, and in sacrament meeting a young man walks in, Hna. Hickman and I were blown away, that usually NEVER happens. So yeah, lets just say it is way important to contact on the street.

I a learning the true difference between a chosen one and someone I want to be a chosen one. It is amazing to me how keep the spirit is. I love it, and hope to never loose it. As I was sitting in Sacrament meeting on Sunday I sat there looking around at everyone and couldn't help but smile. I love these people so much. Just a few months with them, but they have won my heart, the converts, the members, the progressing investigators. This TRULY is the Life.

I found a scripture that I love today in my personal study. It is John 15:10 "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love."

Live worthy to abide in His love. Believe in Miracles.

Intercambios start this week, on Wedneday, I am mentally preparing for another quick transfer, eight intercambios makes this time fly, toooo quickly.

I love you all - UN BUEN,

Hermana Coronado

A la manera del Señor

Be the Best of the Best of the Best.

This weeks phenomenal news begins with MEETING Elder Oaks. He truly is an apostle of the Lord. We took a mission photo with him, it was crazy having all 230+ of us together (my first time in the mission seeing everyone). After the photo he wanted to shake every missionaries hand, so we lined up and spoke briefly to him. Along with him was Elder Walker (of the seventy), and pdte/hna. George. When my turn came to greet him, he simply cupped my hand and said: "It is good to see you Hermana Coronado", as if we had met before.

As the conference commenced about 40 of us missionaries elderes y hermanas were able to sing the hymn: Acompañame to him, with Hna. Cook (beautiful violinist), and Hna. George on the piano. It sounded lovely and as we sang Elder Oaks sat right in front of me....

What I loved is that with each speaker I was able to feel their conviction, their conversion and love for our Savior, Jesus Christ. Elder Walked told us something that I loved. It simply isn't enough to be in missionary work, we must convert ourselves to working for the Lord. He placed a lot of emphasis on Using Preach my Gospel in Every aspect of our lives. When Elder Oaks stood, since he doesn't speak spanish he had a translator, but he told us that he never prepares talks when he visits missionaries, he lets the spirit be his guide. Every word that came from his mouth was powerful. I could feel the love Pdte. George has for all of us as his missionaries, I could feel the power of Elder Walker, but it was so much more powerful hearing an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ speak to us. He was just so close, I felt His sincerity and love for us as well. The Spirit truly is in His Countenance.

Some of the things he shared with us that I absolutely LOVED were: We dont teach people the American culture, or the mexican culture, we teach people the Gospel culture. And our invitation to everyone is to be a part of the gospel culture. Our families will allow us to come back together to the presence of our Father, to a celestial glory and exaltation. The BEST advice I received from his whole capacitacion was that we have to Concentrate on teaching people the NEXT ordinance after baptism: THE Sacrament. "This is an ordinance of the gospel we are commanded to participate in every week, not every christmas, or every saints day, Every Sunday. It is Not optional." How much I loved this. I know that if people understand this principle they will understand why it is that we Need to go to church every sunday.

"The gospel is a gospel of commitment." - Elder Oaks

To testify is to know and to say. To be converted is to do and become. This weekend I have learned to struggle in order to grow. Hna. Juliana and I tried SO hard to find someone to baptize this week. We literally went to every resource, I felt soooo many emotions within the matter of 48hours. But I know that No effort goes in vain. This next transfer has been set up perfectly to baptize, a lot, and to retain every one of these people.

TRANSFERS; I will be staying in Teran and Hna. Juliana is leaving to Bonampak (like 5 minutes away). Our 3mths together have been great. I am kind of trending, my whole mission, 2 transfers every companion. My new companion is Hna. Hickman the one with the famous tuxtla gutierrez mexico blog, but seriously I am basically every missionary have seen her blog before our mission. She has been about about 14 o 15 meses. She has a lot of fire, and I am really excited to work with her.

Struggle → Grow → Receive blessings → Bask in the blessings (honeymoon period) → Great opposition → (Lessening of the Spirit) → Remain Faithful → Climb to new spiritual heights → Start all over again.... It is the way of growth. -John Pontius (Journey to the veil)

Suggestion, read the book mentioned above. It has changed my mission.

Have a spirit filled, gospel sharing week. This gospel IS True.

Mi querida familia y amigos,
Les amo muuuuchhhhoooo

Hermana Coronado

Mis favorita MJ's: Frida y Anna Karen. Oh how I wish you could all meet Anna. If she was the ONLY person I saw get baptized my whole mission, it would have been enough. She is incredible. Luckily the Lord continues to allow me to see more and more miracles.

Aaron's curls are too cute, on Sunday we sang I am a child of God, and every time the words "Soy" o "Dios" were in the hymn we'd hear a little belt from 2yr old Aaron.
