¡Ay ya yay, lo que nunca espere, paso!

This week has been CRAZY! Definitely a whirlwind of everything. The good, the great, and a little taste of the Bad. For anyone who knows me I am a huge clutz, but until now had been doing quite well. Well my luck changed Saturday night. I TRIPPED on a hole in the ground on the sidewalk (downside of mexico, streets here are horrible), and wasnt able to catch my balance, and rolled over my left foot causing the tendon to swell. The great news is its nothing major, just a swollen bruised foot. Haha. Oh man. When I fell Hna. Wilson and Hno. Emmanuel didnt know what to do. It happened a block away from Red Cross. As I sat on the side of the road i knew it was a sprain, hno. emma ran to red cross to get help. And I cant even explain how hilarious it was to see 3 young adults run over to me with their emergancy red bag. They were so enthusiastic.It was awesome. Sorry to let them down,,, it was just a sprain. From there we decided to go to a members house and i hobbled into a moto-taxi that took us to hna. chabelita´s house. She is AWESOME. Every weekend she has a garnacha business (quite delicious oaxacan food), her, her daughter and 2 neices all helped me as i sat in this rocking chair, one held ice to my foot, as the others tried to help. The custom here in Mexico is if you get hurt you get a massage (a sobada), people here are so strong. Hna. Chabelita rubbed her palm into my foot and it hurt so much i couldnt stop crying and laughing simultaneously. On Sunday Dani came over to baby-sit me, and more than anything i have truly felt the Love of my brothers and sisters here in Coita. I am in good hands. I learned to appreciate all the blessings the Lord has given to us. People: APPRECIATE your feet. They are a true blessing. I have learned to see people with even more empathy and love, just as Christ would. I have a wonderful companion. I love her dearly. 

The great thing about the U.S. is there arent nearly as many noises, haha. Here in Mexico the noises are CRAZY. 5:30am clang, clang, clang, the trash man is here, in every restoration lesson the gas truck drives by with metal rings scrapping against the street, you wouldnt think it was so loud, but it is; everynight as we are planning a wheezing, high pitched, huge tea kettle gas oven on a moving cart, aka the man that sells fried bananas. 

We finally figured out why we have no water, our bomba is broken, it doesnt have enough strength to cause the water to filter throughout our house, but all is well, we have a sisterna (a huge well) inside our house that we use bucked to get our water from. 

The great news: We are having 2 baptisms this Saturday. Hno. Abiel and Jeremias. We dropped Jeremias on Friday because he was feeling very pressured by everyone, but deep down we knew He wanted to get baptized. We left him with an open invitation to come to church on Sunday, and make a decision then. (It would be his 5th sunday attendance). When he came we asked him if he had made a decision and he told told us that he would be getting baptized this saturday. I could hear the hallelujah chorus. How wonderful! 

Coolest thing, our branch is planning a ¨Meet the Mormons¨ activity. That is one huge thing about Coita, everyone knows about the church, but no one really understands who we are. It will be happening Friday November 28th. Please pray for our members here to have the ability to encourage all their friends, family, everyone to come to the activity. We are quite excited about it!

We met a wonderful family this week, their are the Hernandez Family. They gather their whole family around to listen to us. Carlos is the greatest child I have ever met. He is 9 yrs old and everytime we see him he talks about his baptism. On sunday he told me, ¨Solo me faltan 3¨, meaning he only needs 3 more asistencias for his baptism. Its wonderful because the primary christmas program will be the day of his confirmation, Dec. 14th. 

The key to having a happy life is to maintain an eternal perspecitve, to know there is more than a here and a now, to understand the importance of having our eye, Single to the Glory of God. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. There have been many times where I sit and ponder, as i read the Book of Mormon, and think of the mission of our Lord, for me, and when these feelings overcome me, I tell myself: I can never be disloyal to Him. I cant ever not give this mission my all. He is Marvelous!

I didnt live during the time of our Saviors mission on the earth. I havent seen Him; but that isnt necessary. I have felt His presence! I know the Holy Ghost has enlightened myt} mind and has revealed this unto me, in a way that I truly love my Redeemer, I know this is true, better than anything else in this life. I wouldnt desire it any other way, I desire to be faithful to Him! Jesus is the Christ, the Living Son of God. We must believe in Christ and take His life as Our example. We must be baptized even as He was; we must worship the Father even as He did; we must do the will of the Father even as He did; we must try to do good and be righteous - even as He did. He is our example, our friend, our Savior, the gran prototype of our Salvation.

 How i sat prior to the Sunday meeting, everyone kept taking pictures of me, hah too funny. Missionaries are Not invincible....

Tienen AGUA?!?!

This week was awesome. I know I say that every week, but it just means, I mean it! 

The Craziest thing that happened They Cut Off the water on Thursday, for literally 5 blocks. NO Water calls for seeeveral trips running from our house to the church and back filled with buckets of water. The biggest blessing is that our church building is only 1 block and a 1/2 from our house. What an adventure. We are suppose to have water in a few hours, this afternoon.

This week was full of teaching children. Truly they are the elect of our Heavenly Fathers children, such purity. In specific we have been visiting and teaching Maria Del Socorro, she works on Sunday and it has been quite difficult to get her to progress, this past tuesday while trying to look for her we met her 10yr old Son Carlos. He is a true gem. Such a smart, special kid with an earnest desire to learn about God, and just do Good. His mom and him have their baptism planned for the 13th of December. (I still can't believe our Invitaciones bautismales are for DECEMBER).

Whenever our citas fall through Hna. Wilson and I have become quite well at having street lessons, this week was full of them. I want to tell you about the funniest one this week. His name is Caesar, we met him as we were singing hymns in the street late into the evening, and he greeted us. We asked him if we could teach him, and we did. Side note: During this same time a Young Man named Ysahaq from our branch was doing visits with us. We told him a sister from our ward would be coming by sometime to give us our laundry, and we wanted him to go get it to not distract from the lesson). As we were teaching Caesar Ysahaq went to get our clothes, and brought them into the cita... AHHH, too funny. I was so embarrased, but you know they are great people when they dont get distracted. On our walk home I kept thinking to myself, ¨I am So Hungry!¨ After getting inside our house I looked into my laundry bag and there were 2 huge burrito-tacos!! The Lord is wonderful. I love the members of Coita, so much.

Karen is a 17yr old girl who will be baptized in 2 weeks, the 15th of November. She truly is a wonderful young women. Everytime we teach her I feel like she is my little sister and truly desire the best for her! She comes to church by herself, reads the Book of Mormon. says her prayers; she is great.

Mari is a street contact who we have been teaching (she makes the best hot chocolate), along with her 2 sons - they are only 6 and 4 but they are always attentive when we teach them to pray, to sing hymns, etc. This Sunday Mari and her 2 sons joined us to church. This truly was THE BEST Sunday to come to church if you were an investigator. Testimony meeting was beautiful from the children, to recent converts, to those who have been members for years. The lesson in principles of the gospel was on prophets, and in relief society about prayers. After church ended their was a baptism, best way to top off a sunday. The spirit was so strong. After the baptism ended Mari turned to us, and said, ¨When are you going to come to my house?¨ A sister from the branch also asked her if she was going to come next week? And Mari happily replied, ¨Yes.¨ 

I have truly grown to love the Lord so much, to Love His children here in Mexico, and to love sharing the gospel. I know that our Redeemer Lives. I believe in Jesus Christ. I want to be an instrument in the Lord's hands to proclaim the gospel to every ear that wants to listen, to allow them to know that Salvation is possible because of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

One of our primary purposes for this earthly probation is to see if we will learn with the spirit of prayer always in our heart, to live our life in Accion de Gracias, so that when the Lord Decides to speak, we will Hear His voice in our Soul!

Pray always. I have learned that prayer turns our heart humble, amplifies our comprehension, enlightens our mind, and it closens us to our Heavenly Father. Live worthy of His Love and infite blessings, use the cleansing power of the atonement.

Progreso Eterno

Hola hola hola. Que creeeen??? Tuvimos cambios..... y me quedo en Coita por 6 semanas mas. Estoy en shock! Pense que por seguro no duraría los 4 cambios aqui, pero esto significa que mi Padre Celestial todavía me necesita aquí, entonces me quedo, y contenta. 

This week was full of eternal progress, because everything we did focused on The Temple. I have made a goal for myself to aim everyones heart towards the temple, just as mine is. There truly is SO much potential and power when investigators, recent converts, members, when everyone understands and truly want to get to the temple.

My family, the familia Lopez and Viridiana are just these kind of people. I have been stunned by the progress they have all had in these 3weeks, to 3 months, as members of the Church. On Friday, Hna. Citlaly, her husband Jose Luis, Viridiana, my companion and I went to the temple. Citlaly and Viridiana were so nervous, and excited. It was the greatest thing. They even brought temple names with them. They both did the baptism and confirmation for their grandmothers, and Jose Luis, did their grandfathers. Afterwards as we were standing in the hall Citlaly hugged me incredibly tight and repeated ¨Thank you, thank you, thank you¨. It was by far one of my favorite moments of the week. I love Hna. Citlaly sooo much!

On Wednesday I went to Bonampak for intercambios and it was awesome. Hna Meletz is a fireball, she goes home this week but she is always working. She has many, many traits I hope to acquire, in time. That night we ordered Dominos pizza and watched Mormon messages, it was great. 

Sunday President George came to church in our branch, in Coita, that was very neat! Hno. Abiel will be baptized November 22nd by President, if there is one of the reasons I am happy to stay, it is to witness his baptism. Zoilas foot is still in pain, please continue to pray for her to get better and be able to walk soon. Since everyone thought I could potential leave they all told me incredibly kind things, before leaving Zoilas house Sunday night she held my hands and thanked me for finding her, and teaching her, and began to cry. I was stunned, and began to cry with her. She told me, ¨I am going to pray with all my strength so that you dont get changed¨. Well, her prayers were answered, haha. What a kind, sweet women she is! 

Right now we have several progressing investigators with baptismal dates. One girl, her name is Karen, she is 17yrs old and her cousin is a member of the church. Her baptismal date is set for November 22nd as well.

By this point in the mission I feel a lot more confident in my abilities to teach, to street contact, and literally invite EVERYONE, street contacts and all to get baptized. This gospel truly changes, purifies and lifts our hearts to an elevated level of obedience, love and faith; in our Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. 

I know that this is the true church, each day my love and desire to work more diligently intensifies. Thank you for your prayers they truly comfort me! 

I love my father in heaven, He loves us. Be faithful to Him and live worthy to receive His blessings. and GO TO THE TEMPLE!!!!

La Verdadera Fe

Esta semana ha sido lleno de muchooooo muuuucchhhooo animo, amor y verdadero gozo. 

We met Zoila last week and she was quite sad, in pain and with her crutches. One day we intentially arrived at her house, in hopes of finding her... We did. We began teaching her and committed her to getting baptized within 5 weeks time, Until we found out SHE HAD A BOOK OF MORMON, and had already assisted to church for 5 months (a while ago). We then felt the impression to ask her to get baptized within 10 days time, aka, the following Saturday. At first she was a bit hesitant. She continued telling us her desire was to get baptized. In 3 days time (Monday), she went to a huesero (a bone ¨doctor¨), who realized that her foot had been healing wrong, and re-broke her foot (without anestesia), craaazzzyyy. 

That same day we went to visit her, she was in so much pain it broke my heart. As we tried everything to comfort her, with tears rolling down her cheecks she told us, ¨my baptism was this saturday, right?¨ My response, ¨It still can be, have faith, have a lot of faith¨. We took our ward mission leader, Hno. Jose Luis to give her a blessing of health and in 2 days time to our HUGE surprise Zoila was standing up with her crutches. 

Finally the day of her baptism arrived on Saturday, and everything that could happen, did happen. Due to her injured foot we knew we had to heat up the water, and we were told the church had a boiler. Hna Wilson and I thought it would be simple to turn on, and after pushing a bunch of buttons decided to Google it! Best idea, we called the Hesa Boiler company and they told us how to turn it on. Once the water was heating and filling up the font Zoila arrived and it starts pouring rain. To kill some time we played the movie ¨John Tanner¨ prior to the baptism, Zoila watched it and cried. As she entered the baptismal font, we helped her in, and had a chair ready for her to sit in. It was a beautiful baptism, and the spirit truly filled the room. I have never met someone as special as her. Since day one she has been SO receptive to the spirit, so willing to listen and truly has so much faith! Zoila is now a beautiful member of the church, and I feel incredibly priviledged to have been a small part in helping her Come Unto Christ! :)

I am 20!!!!!!! Whahhooo.... My birthday is always one of my favorite occassions, who doesnt love their birthday?! I have definitely been priviledged to have great birthdays but NOTHING as great as the one here on the mission!! My day was literally perfect, every cita we had planned to visit was home, every lesson was so spiritual and Hna. WIlson decked out our house with random sticky notes all over the house, it was very kind. After our ward FHE night, Dani and Hna. Lucelva told me that they wanted to give me a birthday dinner. Hna Wilson and I arrived at Danis house and the doors were closed to their living room, the second I opened it 15 yr old Dani ¨caked me¨ with a gansito. She got me good. The second I opened my eyes there was a huge memoir/collage of my adventures with Dani these past four months. They also made me PIZZA! For anyone that knows me, pizza is the way to my heart, hahah.

On Friday we went to a session in the temple and it was so beautiful! My whole soul felt purified, cleansed and filled with the love of my Savior. 

I love this gospel so much, more and more each day. This period, this life is a brief moment of time. It is a short time of great importance. Often I think of how much I feel like i am changing and think of how there truly is nowhere else i would rather be, than here. I know that if we do what is right we will receive an eternal reward of righteousness. We will be able to reach our priceless heritage of hope, to return to live in the Presence of our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. This is the time to change, to progress, this period unites our eternal past and our eternal future. I know that without challenges and opposition in our life we are incapable of progressing. 

Be a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

This week has been HUGE, full of many tender miracles, love for my Savior and a true-deeper understanding for the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

Last week during zone conference President George asked me if I would like to go Canyon del Sumidero, and of course I said yes. So on Pday last week we went to el Canyon del Sumidero with Pres and Sister George, as well as 2 other companions, one of which came to the mission field with me (Hermana Baer). It was so much fun. President said it would be my ¨pre-birthday¨ celebration.

He also announced a NEW Rule.... I CAN GO TO THE TEMPLE! If i am in the surrounding Tuxtla stakes (there are 3), we are now allowed to go to the temple once every six weeks, talk about Awesome news. The temple is one thing I truly miss! And thats not even everything. If my recent converts begin doing their geneology and find names they want to take to the temple, I CAN GO WITH THEM!!! This friday morning Hermana Wilson and I are planning to go to a session in the temple. (My pday today is cut 3,4 hrs short, but its worth it). And we are planning a huge temple trip with Citlaly, Jose Luis, Viridiana, Angel, Ceci and Eduardo Cabrera (most of the conversos recientes), for one of these upcoming saturdays.

We had Virdiana¨s baptism this past weekend and it was absolutely beautiful! Viridiana told us she wanted her uncle to baptize her, my intial thoughts were awesome, she has family that are members of the church. Little to know that the Entire baptismal room was Full of her family (she has a lot of family members who are lds). Even before entering the waters of baptism her face radiated the light of Christ. After her baptism she hugged me, with tears rolling down her face she thanked me for never giving up on her. My whole soul was filled with Joy. These are the moments that make Everything worth it! To know this mission, serving here in Mexico is truly helping people change their ¨naturaleza¨. On Sunday Viri told me that she never knew so much joy could fill her heart. I smiled and told her, ¨It gets better, just wait until you go inside the temple.¨

Soila is Abiels younger sister. Four months ago she broke her foot, but she is definitely a chosen one. Everytime we went to teach Abiel she would always be peaking over to hear but never joined us. I always figured she was curious but too shy to come into the lessons with us. Not too long ago she told me, ¨I dont think its bad to listen. I would like to listen to what you sisters share¨. Hermana Wilson and I began teaching her last week. To our surprise, Soila has a Book of Mormon, and even attended for several months to our church in a different state here in Mexico but due to time, she began to work on Sundays. In our intial cita we challenged her to get baptized in 2 weeks time. This upcoming Saturday, October 18th. She accepted but is slightly saddened that she can not walk into the water by herself. Please pray for her to have the courage to keep her faith and follow our Savior. Our father in Heaven works in mysterious but perfect ways. I know she is prepared and will be a worthy, wonderful member. As a companionship we have made the goal to pray for her baptismal date in every prayer.

Citlaly gave the lesson on Sunday in Principios del Evangelio. It swelled my heart with joy to see her teaching the class, such natural confidence. She said something I really loved. ¨Our Heavenly Father always send the people, the situations, and sets the paths for us to overcome our stumbling blocks (our trials) along the road.¨ How true this is. 

I have begun a ¨40 day fast¨, se llama cambiando nuestra naturaleza. For 40 days I am going to get rid of all the things that impede me from constantly having the spirit. They are all little things. It began yesterday after my fast. I know that this process of purification is real. I am often, daily, always thinking about the atonement of Jesus Christ. His love is real. His love is perfect. My everything here on the mission is a small return of my Saviors everything. This gospel is a labor of love! It changes, turns, and purifies the heart of those who sincerely look for the truth. Life depends on how we wish to see it. 

When this life finishes live to be worthy of eternal peace in the presence of Him whose face we have searched for, whose laws we have kepy, and who we have chosen to serve! As servants of the Lord, our purpose is to walk the path that He waled. We should live our life the way He did! Live repentance, the atonement can heal, cleanse and purify everyone.

I love you all. I pray for you daily. I love my Father in Heaven, and my Savior Jesus Christ. Turn to Him in everything. (2 Nephi 25:29)
