¡Conoce a Los Mormones!

This week, was also another phenomenal week. It truly is all in your attitude. Coita is truly a place of many tender miracles. It is where i have truly grown to love and admire the relationship we can grow to have with our Savior, Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven. I have loved all of my time here and know these past 6 months have flown by quicker than in any other moment in my life.

Hna. Wilson and I went to the temple this week, it was beautiful. Hermana George came to the temple at the same time and we were able to be in the same session, that was so fun. And she took us out to lunch afterwards, Tuxtla Perks.

Like I mentioned last week this past Friday we had our: "Conoce a los mormones!" activity and it was quite successful. For the first time the members truly worked together to show "the world", aka Coitecos what the church is all about. The activity began playing mormon messsages in the sacrament hall while everyone arrived. Then Presidente Mendoza gave a brief introduction/bienvenida, and then we all parted into our organizations, in total there were 5- 10min lessons, primary, relief society, ym/yw, priesthood, and us, the missionaries! For our 10min. intro. into what and who we are we all began by giving a brief backup of who we are and a small "challenge" we have faced while being here in Mexico ex: not speaking the language, leaving fam. etc. I pulled out a photo of me at byu with a llama and said, "I left my llama, his name was llama", everyone laughed, and then of course i told them i was kidding and what i left was being a student at BYU and putting my career on pause. While we spoke next to us on a table was a metal jar filled with cookies. Throughout the activity we had Dani (a yw in our branch) invite everyone to go up to the front and eat the cookies, as expected no one stood up. We told them that this is how the gospel works, everyone is invited to come partake of the delicious cookies (the gospel) but very few people actually give themselves the opportunity to do so. We ended all together again in the sacrament room and watching a clip called, ¨By small and simple things¨, it is about member missionary work. I truly felt the spirit so strongly in our activity. I felt the members truly united and saw the desire to want to know more in the investigators that came. It was beautiful!

Carlos is the most faithful 9 year old i think i will probably be able to ever meet. I sure wish you could come to Coita to meet him. He is phenomenal. This week we went to visit him and took a few different hermanas in hope of helping his mom come to church, but she is a little flojita. We gave her a church tour and she loved it, now we are just hoping she will commit to coming to church. During one of the lessons carlos's dad, a little drunken began to start this argument with his mom with all of us there, during the entire thing Carlos just sat down next to me and made me a bracelet. He is strong. Every sunday that passes he counts down for his baptism. Next Sunday is his 5th Sunday and he is Stoked, as we are too!

His little 7 yr old brother Leiber is hilarious. When one of the Hermanas asked him what his name was he said... ¨Lei....Hermano Yair¨. What a hoot.

The branch here in Coita has progressed so much in the time I have been here. It is so awesome. Our weekly assistance use to range around 60, and if we hit 80 we would get very excited. Now if we do anything lower than 100 its a shock. I love it. I dont know if i have ever mentioned it before but our branch President, Pres. Mendoza is an exceptional person. He works so hard and is always so excited for missionary work and to know who we are teaching. This week more than any other i realize the importance of member-missionary work. The Power is in YOU! Now go out and change some lives with the missionaries in your ward. :)

I know this gospel can edify our lives more profoundly than anything else in this world. Go to the temple. Choose to be happy, and you will be!

Animo,
